Tarsonian Confederacy is a long time project of Mandemon. It is currently active in North Campaign, but is also planned to appear in Grand Campaign 4.


Tarsonian peopleEdit

OverviewEdit

Tarsonians, Homo Sapiens Tarsonis, are off-shoots of the main human race, being isolated from the main branch around 2 500 years ago by an unknown race. They are extremely territorial and are extremely hard to approach. This raises from their numerous hostile encounters with other races. Their are technologically between Earth and Mobians, still largely using projectile based weaponry, although they have shifted onto energy beams with their capital ships.
Their Grav Well technology allows them to successfully defend themselves from superior number and since they use this same technology as FTL travel, their colonies are extremely hard to find. It's estimated from their flag that they have 17 colonies united under single government.


Foreign relationsEdit

Voltors: Both races are aware of each other thanks to small skirmish fought between Voltor Colonial Defence Force and a Tarsonian Expedition fleet. Tarsonians had just jumped into system without knowledge of it, soon finding themselves fighting for survival against the Voltor. Tarsonians were eventually forced to retreat after losing four of their ten ships. No other contact between races have concurred.
Sarath: These races have had very bad relationships due to Sarath-Tarsonian conflict. Tarsonians, believing Sarath to be a non-sentient race decided to colonise one of the Sarath worlds. This resulted in what is know as the ”Bug War” by Tarsonians and ”Tarsonian Aggression” by the Sarath. War was eventually ended by arrival of The Accentie invasion fleet, forcing both sides to fight together.
After the invasion fleet was destroyed, the Confederacy gave their formal apology, but refused to take blame for the war. According to the Confederacy, the ”Sarath should have contacted our people before attacking them”, not mentioning that Tarsonians were the people who violated the Sarath territory.

Hydronians: Probably the only race to have a friendly relationship with Tarsonians. Tarsonians fear that if the Hydronian Empire falls, the Lyveks will crush the Confederacy under it's number. As the result, Tarsonians have become allies of Hydronians recently, providing ships and man power. No tech trade has occurred between two races, as Tarsonians guard their technology religiously.

The Cronian Union Confederacy is currently in cold war with Cronian Union, with even the smallest spark capable of launching a full-scale war. With the Union pulling not, but with two successful espionage missions in Confederacy Weapons And Technology Department, Confederates are more than happy to "wipe that cocky smile off the Cronians' faces".


HistoryEdit

At some point, an unknown race visited Earth and abducted a large patch of humans for an unknown experiment. The humans were dumped on Tarsonis and subjected to numerous trials. Eventually, these humans rebelled and managed to board the ”God's vessel” under cover of paying tribute. Overwhelming the crew through superior numbers ship crashed on Tarsonis and was buried. All history concerning the aliens was lost. Tarsonians, now isolated from the main human population soon started a slow evolution to adapt their new home. Around 1 500 years ago, they became separate race, although they are still able to breed with the main human population.
For a long time Tarsonians believed themselves to be created by gods, supported by humans suddenly ”popping up” in the world, as no evolutionary traces were found prior first human population, This belief was shattered when the old alien vessel was found along with a small stone tablet explaining the events up to rebellion. Following a series of holy wars that lasted for 23 years, during which the first space ships were build.
Around 1634 of the Tarsonian calendar, Tarsonis was united under the Tarsonian Confederacy. Setting it's eyes to skies, it colonised the remainder of the star system. For 40 years, peace was held until the colonies voiced their disapproval and lack of voting power in the senate. The following Colony War lasted for 63 years until Lucius Nero was elected as Grand Leader of Confederacy. Under his rule, the colonies were subdued. Unfortunately, he launched a military coup and declared himself the Emperor of All.
During the following 150 years of imperial rule Tarsonians were able to build their first Grav Well technology and colonise worlds outside their system. Tarsonian Empire slowly became corrupt until during the outer colonies rebelled the reign of Emperor Ghalius III. This created a chain reaction which lead to over half of the military turning against the empire. The war is widely renowned for a single combat comment made by a rebelling captain to a loyalist captain:
”Do you believe in the emperor, or do you believe in the people?”
After 20 years of bloody warfare, rebels managed to assassinate the imperial family to the last man, woman and child, effectively destroying anyone's claim to the throne. War still went for another 7 years and it took 10 more years for the new government to gain authority of all of the colonies.
The Tarsonian Confederacy was reformed, with all the colonies having equal voice in Senate and more independence compared to previous governments. This so called Second Confederacy has so far maintained the support of the people. Following the years of expedition into space and several bad encounters with other races, they are largely uninterested in galactic politics.
Recently, they accidentally found their ancestral world, Earth. At first the Confederacy, believing it to be united like itself, wanted to join back it's ancestors. After finding out that Earth was battlefield between numerous factions and aliens, Confederacy retreated and wondered, what should it do. Assist the Earth or conquer it?


BiologyEdit

They have grown in slighty heavier gravity, with their size being smaller and their bone structure more durable. They show signs of developing psionic powers, altough this is limited to a small percent of population and they still need special devices to allow these skills to manifest.
They have more advanced lungs thanks to a smaller amount of oxygen in the air of their homeworld. This does have a downside tough, as they are more dependable on other gasses in the air and actually would have trouble breathing Earth's air.


ReligionEdit

Tarsonians have three main religions, with only one actually being a religion and others being more like philosophies.


Path of Now and Forever, also called Almaxeia Doctrine by the military or Xenocide Thinking by the Umojans, was created by Admiral Sergei Almaxeia. According to him, humans are superior to xenos (non-humans, like Lyvek, Sarath or Voltors) and as such should band together to create a Human Empire and "pacify" the xenos. All humans, no matter what, are brothers against a cold and hostile universe.


Umojan Way, or Way of the Englightened or Hippy Path depending on the speaker, is pretty much the exact opposite of the Path of Now and Forever. It calls for unification and peace, believing that even most violent race can find peace and harmony in the world. Only through meditation and peace can one's persona ascend to next level of existence.


Pantheon, collection of 5 gods:


Ares, God of War.
Prometheus, God of Knowledge.
Odin, God of Life.
Venus, Godness of Beauty.
Louhi, Godness of Death


According to the Pantheon, all gods stand equal and without one others could not exist. Devotion to one is encouraged, yet dismissing one is considered arrogance. Interesting, Louhi is depicted as a beautiful and gentle character, bringing peace to tired souls unlike Earth's own depiction, the Grim Reaper.



Political situationEdit

GovernmentEdit

Tarsonian society is very much Earth-like in nature, with numerous different factions seeking to dominate the senate. Confederacy is governed by the Senate, which includes Senators, from which one is elected as Praetor. Each colony sends one Senator.
Foreign policy is led by Ambassadors, who are often retired Senators. They represent the Confederacy of other worlds and are in constant contact with the Senate. The military is lead by Grand Admiral and Grand Marshall, who lead navy and army.
In times of extreme measure, the Supreme Commander of Confederate Armies is elected and has the right to override any command. One step above them is the Grand Leader of the Confederacy, a short time dictator who is granted all powers in the Confederacy when everything goes wrong. Only once have Supreme Commander of Confederate Armies and Grand Leader of Confederacy been chosen. Currently, no-one holds either position.
The Colonies are actually independent, but have given their defence, foreign policy and jurisdiction to the Confederacy. Colonies maintain their own defence force and are expected to supply the Confederacy with new troops and ships when demanded. All laws made by the Senate must be applied by the planetary government before going into effect.

Cronian Union: Confederacy is currently in cold war with Cronian Union, with even smallest spark cabable of launching a full-scale war. With Union pulling not, but two successulf espionage missions in Confederacy Weapons And Technology Deparment, Confederates are more than happy to "wipe out that cocky smile on Cronian face".

TechnologyEdit

Tarsonians have mastered gravity and what they call ”Reittmans particle”, or graviton. Their ability to control these particles have allowed Tarsonians build their own unique technology.
Grav Well: Main way of FTL. Confederates pull two point in space with use of graviton untill they overlap, called ”Gravwelling”. Ship passes trough this tunnel, arriving in instant at the other side. This makes backtracking Confederacy routes near impossible and is one reason why Confederacy worlds are so well hidden.


Grav Drive:
Instead of using convetional propulsion methods, Confederacy ships create a serie of gravity wells to pull and push their ships untill desired speed is achieved. This makes their ships extremely fast to accelerate or decelerate. The ships still have back up propulsion methods incase Grav Drive fails to work.
Grav Shield: Theorised, yet untested. According to their scientist, by calculating enemy fire routes it is possible to create a serie of grav wells to redirect beams and protectiles onto complety different route. So far, no test has produced desired result. Currently Confederacy does not have any kind of shields on their ships.
Grav Distruptor: A recently developed weapon. Basicly, a beam that distrups the gravity force of atoms causing chain reaction as molecules start breaking down. Extremely powerfull, but only mounted on most powerfull ships since energy cost of using the weapon and keeping own ship in one piece is enourmos, not to mention energy needed to keep beam together. Useless in atmosphere, since the beam would just disappear into air.


Mil-Tech PHECA MK IV


Powered Hazardious Enviroment Combat Armor, or Power Armor as it is commonly called, is what Tarsonian military uses. It greantly enchances the strength of user and allows travel in even the most hostile enviroment. It has in buold breathing assistant, collecting gasses and mixing the most suitable mix for Tarsonians to breath. If unable to collect enough, soldiers are equiped with special tanks to have gasses that the athmosphere misses.


Contains advanced Human-Computer Interface, that allows user to monitor his heart beat, blood loss, suit status, ammo carried, satelite view provided such is avaible, targeting assistant, several different views and on-build communication system.
Mil-Tech EAIW-2A

Not much to say, it's basicly rail gun that fits soldiers hand. It's very reliable thanks to advanced battery system, but downside is same as any projectile weapon: it has ammo that runs out eventualy.
